Join us on the foothills of Africa’s highest free standing mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, in one of Africa’s iconic marathons, the Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon. This spectacular run has the official backing of the Tanzania Tourist Board, the Tanzania Amateur Athletics Association, the IAAF, and is registered with AIMS. The logistics of the operation are run by the organizers and the members of both the Tanzania Amateur Athletics Association (TAAA) and the local Kilimanjaro Amateur Athletics Association (KAAA). This annual marathon will take place on 28 February 2021 and offers a 42.2km full marathon, a 21.1km half marathon and a 5km Fun Run.

Kili Marathon, to begin with, was simply an idea formed by event organizer 2002, over a cold Kilimanjaro Lager, of a great way to draw tourism in to Tanzania – an iconic name and place for a marathon, using sport and a new marketing idea to attract runners to Tanzania, who would then climb the mountain, or go on safari after running the race.

Year one, after generating some marketing on a tiny budget, attracted a mix of a few ‘international’ runners coupled with local interest – and ended up with a field of about 300 – 400 runners in total who enjoyed the race. Back in 2003, the local interest from villagers was piqued and they came out to see what was going on in their quiet town so early on a Sunday morning. Children followed some of the athletes, there were goats on the side of the roads, part of the course was on dirt, but generally most people went about their morning activities – like any other Sunday.

Team of like-minded fans of running, decided to create a running portal, where you can find information about any race on the planet. A year later the portal "Get.run" appeared - the world's largest base of races, which already includes information on 32 100 starts.

This project is made by amateur runners for amateur runners. Every month we change and become more and more comfortable for you!
On the running portal are already available:

• Convenient choice of race on the continent, country, region and city;
• Sorting of races in length - from short to ultramarathon distances;
• Interactive search for races by name;
• Basic information about the race, contact organizers, photos and videos from previous starts.
• A map with marked start points around the world. You can specify any point on the map and see the nearest events in the area. On the map, you will certainly discover new cities and find races in them. Agree, an interesting way to explore the planet!
• New: "Treadmill" - the ability to create a running plan for the future running season: you can add races from any cities and countries, select distances and create with your running plan.

Each year, some of the most captivating and cutting-edge cinema from Africa and beyond is screened in venues across the island. From world-premiers to local shorts, we’ve got it all, with a long history of showcasing the highest quality film from all over the world. Films are submitted based on a yearly theme – this year is ‘Season of Visions’ – and entered into various categories and competitions. The final night is an awards night, where the winning films are recognized and celebrated.

MUSIC
ZIFF also puts on the island’s best parties. Live music, dance, DJs and performance across several venues means that carnival fever hits Zanzibar for 2 weeks! We bring musicians together from all over Africa, as well as recognized international acts.

COMMUNITY
A Zanzibar institution, ZIFF is a truly local festival, with exhibitions, workshops, and cultural tours that take you to the heart of the community. We promote local talent in film and music, showcasing new and old creative achievements. As ZIFF comes to town, so too do opportunities for recognizing arts and crafts – the festival is always a hotbed of activity!
